The latest fashion designer to submit sketches for the much anticipated inaugural ball gown for abfab First Lady Michelle O. is Kai Milla.
Kai Milla Morris is the wife of music legend Stevie Wonder. Her designs have been modeled by famous faces including Oprah Winfrey and Petra Nemcova. Her latest collection, Inaugural 2009, is inspired by our future First Lady, who Milla believes will be a trendsetter like former First Lady Jackie O. “Mrs. Obama has a style the modern woman can relate to, this timeless appeal, and I think that’s something a lot of women are attracted to”, says the designer of her latest muse.
This jewel-toned gown was designed by Milla to highlight Mrs. O’s fantastic figure “Her tall frame is a designer’s dream,” she says. “She can do an off-the-shoulder look, or even a backless dress. I would love to see her in a structured silhouette.”
Kai Milla only one of many celebrity designers eager to dress Michelle Obama on her big night (yes, its as much her night as it is her husbands. Behind every strong man is an even stronger woman. Amen.) Check out some more designs below:
“[As the first African-American First lady] She’s the first of her kind,” says Marc Bouwer. “The designer who gets this will snag a major part of history. This will be remembered now and for forever.” I can smell a cat fight coming on. Ooh-wee!
