What’s Going on at the Jolie-Pitt House?!

Posted by Krei Teylorr on December 19, 2008

9-1-1 responded to a call to the Jolie-Pitt home at approximately 5 p.m. yesterdaybrad-pitt-red-carpet-nc evening.

An ambulance and a fire truck pulled up to the gate of the Jolie-Pitt compound and were let inside by one of the security guards. After about 15 minutes, paramedics left with an elderly man who was transported to a local hospital. Shortly after that, the police arrived.

More details on this story to come!

Brad celebrated his 45th Birthday yesterday. I hope it not him they’re referring to as an “elderly” man!

Does O.J. Really Deserve It?

Posted by Krei Teylorr on December 5, 2008

I just got home from a holiday party and saw the news about O.J. I updated my previous post and then went on about my business of doing, well, nothing.

I started surfing the ‘net for sources for my next post(s), when the headline “O.J. Simpson Sentenced to 15 Years” caught my eye. You know, we journalists can’t be wrong when telling a story, so I had to read a little more to make sure I wasn’t spreading false rumors.

Turns out, O.J. Simpson was sentenced up to 33 years in prison with the possibility of release after nine years (my story is still correct *whew*). ABCNews.com broke it down rather nicely:

Simpson, 61, was sentenced to fifteen years for kidnapping and was also sentenced to at least another three years in prison for assault. He will be eligible for parole after six years on the kidnapping charges , meaning he will be eligible for release after nine years and could serve as long as thirty-three years. –ABCNews.com

Although this sentence is a lot  better than the life sentence he was facing, I can’t help but think that the punishment really doesn’t fit the crime. I know there were weapons involved and malicious intent and a lot of  other crazy

little things the jury makes up considers when deliberating, but thirty-three years for an incident that lasted approximately six minutes?! Nah, that’s insane!

I’m sure people everywhere who agree with me will say that O.J. is being served a dual punishment for his alleged role in the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ron Goldman, back in ’94, and getting acquitted for it to boot. The judge knows this as well, because she stressed that she was not sentencing him for any previous actions besides those for which he was currently on trial. Uh-huh. Whatever.

You know the jury was all white? Hmm-Hmm. This seems to be shaping up to be a good ol’ fashioned story of racism. However, can we even consider racism a factor anymore? The election of Barack Obama stood as a testament to America finally moving forward from its color coded past. But, I guess it takes awhile before it can really take effect.

Simpson’s attorneys are planning to appeal, arguing that a fair trial was nearly impossible after the 1995 murder “Trial of the Century” that left him a celebrity outcast.

Sure enough, the Goldman’s were there, happy to see “the monster behind bars”. Little consolation for them though, as they’ll never get their son back.

Pay attention to what’s written about this topic in the next few days. I’m pretty sure the racism card will be played.
